For thousands of years, Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) has held a revered place within Ayurveda, the traditional system of wellness originating in India.
Often described in Ayurvedic tradition as the “King of Medicines / King of Plants” and associated with rejuvenation, vitality, and longevity, Haritaki has been used by generations of herbalists, healers, and practitioners as part of a holistic approach to well-being.
Our Haritaki is simple: 100% organic dried Haritaki fruit directly from India where the first Haritaki tree originated.
Why use Haritaki?
Haritaki is one of Ayurveda’s most treasured plants and is traditionally classified as a rasayana, a category of herbs and preparations associated with rejuvenation and the preservation of vitality.
Within traditional Ayurvedic practice, Haritaki has long been used to support healthy digestion, elimination, vitality, and overall balance.*
Its significance, however, extends beyond physical wellness. Haritaki has also held a place within contemplative and spiritual traditions, where it has been associated with clarity, purification, and deeper awareness. The Buddha and his belly of fire is often associated with his consumption of Haritaki. Buddha is credited with bringing Haritaki to the far East (China).
How Haritaki Actually Works (The Science)
This isn’t mysticism. It’s biochemistry. Let’s take a deep dive into the active compounds.
The compounds, specifically Chebulinic acid and Tannins, cross the blood brain barrier and make their way to the pineal gland.
Chebulinic Acid: The Primary chelation agent. Crosses the blood brain barrier, binds to calcium fluoride deposits, and breaks them down at the molecular level.
Tannins (200+): Neuroprotective compounds that shield neural tissue from oxidative damage while supporting the chelation process.
Gallic & Ellagic Acid: Secondary chelation agents. Help flush residual calcium fluoride deposits released during decalcification.
Polyphenols & Flavonoids (200+): Optimize brain cell function and support mitochondrial energy production for enhanced mental clarity.
Most supplements can’t do this. The blood brain barrier blocks 98% of compounds, for good reason. These get through.
The Chelation Process:
1. Compounds cross the blood brain barrier. The chebulinic acid and tannins make their way directly to the pineal gland, bypassing the barrier that blocks 98% of other compounds.
2. Chelation of calcium fluoride deposits. For most people, this gland is coated, calcified from years of fluoride exposure. Tap water, toothpaste, processed foods. It builds up as calcium deposits that literally harden around the gland. The compounds bind to the calcium crystal build up and start breaking it down, pulling it away from the gland tissue.
3. Calcification clears over a few weeks. As the calcification clears, you’re removing the barrier that’s been blocking the gland’s natural function. This doesn’t happen overnight. Usually takes a few weeks of consistent use.
4. Gland resumes natural function. Once decalcified, it can start producing DMT again. Dimethyl tryptamine. The compound that’s naturally released during deep meditation, dreams, and those expanded states of consciousness.
What Happens After Decalcification:
✓ DMT production resumes: naturally released during deep meditation, dreams, and expanded states of consciousness
✓Circadian rhythms regulate: your body’s internal clock syncs back to its natural state
✓Melatonin production normalizes: deeper, more restorative sleep every night
✓Pressure sensation between eyebrows: right here in the forehead. That’s the gland reactivating.
✓Intuitive hits come stronger: gut feelings become undeniable
✓Vivid imagery behind closed eyelids: visual clarity returns during meditation
✓Synchronicities increase: meaningful coincidences become a daily occurrence
Traditional Uses & Wellness Support of Haritaki
Haritaki also has a long history of use within Ayurvedic rejuvenation practices intended to nourish and maintain the body over time.
A Sacred Ayurvedic Plant
Haritaki’s reputation extends far beyond its physical uses.
Throughout its long history, the fruit has been revered within Ayurvedic and spiritual traditions and associated with wisdom, vitality, purification, and longevity.
Rather than viewing an herb simply as something taken for a particular symptom, traditional Ayurvedic philosophy often approaches botanicals as part of a larger relationship between food, herbs, lifestyle, mind, body, and consciousness.
Haritaki represents this beautifully.
